ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research are to study the knowledge and wisdom of using

herbal medicine to treat diseases in the Ban Rai Kong Khing community, and to study
the application process of local wisdom in modern disease treatment. This research is

Mixed methods research. The sample group of this study consisted of traditional

healers, villagers, and patients residing in the Ban Rai Kong Khing community, Nong
Khwai subdistrict, Hang Dong district, Chiang Mai province, totaling of 327 people. The

research tool for this study comprised an interview form used to collect data on

traditional healers, and questionnaires used to collect villagers and patients There
were two data analysis models, including quantitative data analysis, which analyzed

through a descriptive statistics procedures, and qualitative data analysis, which
obtained from content analysis techniques based on interview data.

The research found that the medical wisdom which folk healers have in using

herbs to treat diseases in Ban Rai Kong Khing are inherited from ancestors who has

been passed down from generation to generation The obvious motivation for being

healers is to be convinced by the village headman to help the villagers Therefore,
they have taken the knowledge to further their career and use it by becoming a folk

healer and the application process in treating diseases of each folk healer will be varied

according to the knowledge they possess Most of them use natural materials and

avoid using chemicals as much as possible. This includes providing services like a family

which left a deep impression to those receiving treatment and trust so that the
knowledge of using herbs in this treatment will continue to exist.
