ABSTRACT

The objectives of the study were (1) to study factors affecting the quality of life of the

elderly, (2 to study the need for welfare provision of the elderly, and (3 to study the

appropriate approaches in improving the quality of life of the elderly in Mae Pu Kha subdistrict,

San Kamphaeng district, Chiang Mai This study was the quantitative research The sample

population was 400 elderly people aged over 60 years old with a questionnaire as a data

collection tool The statistics used for data analysis consisted of percentage, mean and
standard derivation.

The research results were as follows:

.
1 Factors affecting the overall quality of life of the elderly in Mae Pu Kha was at the
high level ( = 3.93).

2. The elderly in Mae Pu Kha need social welfare at the high level ( = 4.16).

3. The appropriate approaches to improve the quality of life of the elderly in Mae Pu
Kha was at the highest level ( = 4.22). It was found that’s there should be the proactive

health checks, such as home visits, promote the exchange on health care knowledge by the
aged people and establish a school for the elderly.
